The 6th Annual soccer match between the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida and the St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida for the Dennis Ziadie Trophy will take place on Saturday April 17th, 2010 in Miramar, Florida. Last year’s match drew over 850 spectators and supporters of both schools. The games will begin promptly at 12.00 pm.

The annual match is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories. This year will mark the 24th year of the death of Dennis Ziadie in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup.

This year’s soccer match is a part of the “True Blue” weekend festivities which is a joint effort between 4 Alumni associations:

Fans at the 2009 All Girls Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off

The 6th Annual Dennis Ziadie Cup Football Match will feature the popular All Girls Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off sponsored by Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union.  Participating schools will have the opportunity to win two cash prizes: A $100 cash donation to the winning school and $50 cash donation to the second place school

Schools that have participated in previous years are: Convent of Mercy Academy “ALPHA”, Immaculate Con. High School Alumnae Association, Queen’s High School Alumni Association, St. Andrew High Old Girls Association, St. Hugh’s Alumnae Association of South Florida and Montego Bay High School Alumnae Assoc South Florida.

“We have sponsored this event from its inauguration and look forward to it each year”, says Hazel Maragh Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union South and Central Florida Marketing/Community Consultant,  “It has become friendly competition amongst the Girls Schools Alumni”.

Queens High School Alumni Association member kicks the winning penalty shot for the 2009 title.

One year after winning the $100 cash donation for their school, the Queens High School Alumni Association will return to defend  their title as the champions of the All Girls Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off. The event is sponsored by Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union and will take place in Miramar, Florida at the 6th Annual True Blue Weekend/Dennis Ziadie Cup Football Match on Saturday, April 17th, 2010.

The annual soccer match is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories. This year will mark the 24th year of his death in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup.

This year Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union will donate two cash prizes: $100 to the winning school and $50 to the second place school.

“Our penalty kicker from last year’s competition has been practicing” said Natalie Chung-Cauldero, president of The Queens High School Alumni Association, “We are looking forward to defending our title in this year’s Western Union All Girls Penalty Kick off and winning the $100 donation for our school”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Four South Florida Jamaican Alumni form an unprecedented partnership for the 3-day True Blue Event/Ziadie Cup, April 16-18th, 2010

The St. Andrew Old Girls’ Association Florida Inc., The Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” Association, Inc., The St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc  have formed an unprecedented partnership to showcase the 3-day True Blue/Ziadie cup event April 16th -18th 2010.  This joint effort, between these four organizations, is a first in South Florida amongst the Jamaican Alumni Association community.

“This 3-day event  displays the unwavering support  JC and George’s have from  their “sister schools,” said Deirdre Benka-Coker, president St. Andrew High School Old Girls Association of South Florida, Inc., “We are pleased to take a trip down memory lane with our  ‘brother school’, revisiting one of the most exciting rivalries in Manning Cup football…Battle of the Blues”.

The True Blue weekend is an expansion from the annual Ziadie Cup soccer match between The St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc.   The annual match is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories.
