The 7th Annual True Blue Ziadie Cup Soccer Match will be held at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar on March 26th , 2011. A media room sponsored by Jamaicans.com, will be open for the members of the media from 11:00 am- until the end of event. Food and beverages will be provided. .

The 7th Annual Dennis Ziadie Cup Moves to Miramar’s Ansin Park – March 26th, 2011

Miramar, Florida – The 7th Annual Dennis Ziadie Cup soccer match between the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida and the St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida moves to the state-of-the-art for Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida. The game will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 26th, 2011. Last year’s match drew over 1000 spectators and supporters from the Caribbean community.

“It is a beautiful facility that comfortably meets the needs of our prestigious and highlighted weekend event, 2011 Dennis Ziadie Cup”, said Adrienne “Addy” Chin-Ogilvie, Chairperson, Public Relations officer, the Convent of Mercy Academy (Alpha) Association, Inc , “It is centrally located to the Caribbean community which has the advantage of attracting and accommodating more spectators within the South Florida region.”

The Ansin Sports Complex sits in the heart of the City of Miramar in Western Broward County, with easy access from all major thoroughfares. This 24-acre property stands as a testament to engage the greatest sports entertainment enthusiasts with its soccer /football field, (3) basketball courts, (1) netball court, concession stand, 2nd floor press box and cricket batting cages.

The Ziadie Cup soccer match will be played in Ansin’s grandstand stadium which has a seating potential of over 5,000 spectators.

“We are happy to be moving the soccer match to Ansin Park this year” said Ray Stephenson the president of the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida. (JCOBAFL), “It is an excellent facility and has hosted large spectator events including the, North America, Central America & Caribbean

The Ziadie Cup is a part of the “True Blue” weekend festivities which is a joint effort between 4 Alumni associations:

Camperdown High School Past Students’ Association to defend their title at the All Girls/Co-Ed Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off – March 26th, 2011, Miramar, Florida


Camperdown High School Past Students’ Association member kicks the winning penalty shot for the 2010 title.

One year after winning the $100 cash donation for their school, the Camperdown High School Past Students’ Association will return to defend their title as the champions of the All Girls/Co-Ed Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off. The event is sponsored by Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union and will take place in Miramar, Florida at the 7th Annual True Blue Weekend/Dennis Ziadie Cup Football Match on Saturday, March 26th, 2011.

The annual soccer match is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached Jamaica College and St. George’s College to Manning Cup victories. This year will mark the 24th year of his death in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup.

This year Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union will donate two cash prizes: $100 to the winning school and $50 to the second place school.

“We were delighted to win last years True Blue Half-Time Penalty Kick-Off” said Dr. Allan Cunningham, Camperdown High School Past Students’ Association Florida Chapter, president, “the money Western Union awarded us went to the schools Scholarship fund. We look forward to competing and winning again this year”

Participating in last year’s Penalty kick-off was: Camperdown High School Past Students’ Association Florida Chapter, Convent of Mercy Academy “ALPHA”, Immaculate Conception High School Alumnae Association, Queen’s High School Alumni Association, St. Andrew High Old Girls Association, St. Hugh’s Alumnae Association of South Florida and Montego Bay High School Alumnae Assoc South Florida.

The All Girls/Co-Ed Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off is a part of the “True Blue” weekend festivities which is a joint effort between 4 Alumni associations:

Today the joint partnership between four South Florida Jamaican Alumni announced the 7th Annual True Blue Event, March 25th-27th, 2011. The 3-day event is hosted by the St. Andrew Old Girls’ Association Florida Inc., The Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” Association, Inc., The St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc.

“We are excited about this year’s True Blue weekend, especially with the addition of a Saturday night True Blue After Party event to the festivities” said Rudy Kameka, Treasurer, St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc.

The True Blue weekend is an expansion from the annual Ziadie Cup soccer match between The St. George’s College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. The annual match is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories. This year will mark the 24th year of the death of Dennis Ziadie in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup. Last year’s match drew over 850 spectators and supporters.

“What the True Blue Event has accomplished in the past 6 years indicates the continued strength of the alumni association in the Jamaican community” said Mary Ann Raymond, VP & Treasurer, the St. Andrew Old Girls’ Association Florida Inc.
